Many amateur and professional tournaments have been contested at Midlothian over the years. Walter Hagen defeated Chick Evans to win the 1914 U.S. Open at Midlothian - the first of his 11 major championships. South African Bobby Locke won the Chicago Victory National Open in 1948 and Billy Casper won Western Opens at Midlothian in 1969 and 1973. Both Pater Filius, the oldest father-son tournament in the nation, and Derby Day, which originated as a two day, 36-hole competition following a trip to the Kentucky Derby, began in 1904. The club's annual husband & wife tournament, The Benedict Championship, began in 1902 and The Midlothian Cup, the club's premier member-guest event, was re-introduced in 1991.
Midlothian Country Club proudly hosted the 2023 Western Junior Championship, June 19 - 22, 2023.
